Welcome to Cairo, the doorway to discovering Egypt’s 7,000-year-old ancient mysteries.
Go by private transfer from the airport to your hotel which sits in the heart of Cairo, on the banks of the River Nile. This evening, experience Cairo’s breathtaking sunset from the Nile on a traditional felucca.
Today you’ll begin your exploration of Cairo. Visit the Egyptian Museum which has long been the jewel in Cairo’s crown, and home to the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world.
See the 12th century medieval Citadel including the stunning Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. Later, visit the 1,000-year old market Khan El Khalili where you will find jewelry, souvenirs, antiques, and handmade gifts.
Of the seven wonders of the ancient world, only one remains today: The Great Pyramid of Giza, inside which the kings would journey to the next world and emerge as gods.
You will visit the three pyramids at Giza where you will have the unique opportunity to enter into their passages. Next, proceed to the Great Sphinx with its head of a man and body of a lion, gazing across the valley.
Leave Cairo behind and travel by private plane to Luxor. Here you will board your floating boutique hotel, the Historia, for a 4-day journey down the Nile.
After lunch on the boat, you will disembark to explore Karnak, the most important spiritual site in all of ancient Egypt. Walk the Great Hypostyle Hall which contains 134 massive columns arranged in 16 rows. Then visit Luxor Temple, flanked by two seated statues and a pinkish-colored granite obelisk, the site where kings were crowned.
Sail this morning to the Valley of the Kings & Hatshepsut Temple. The West Bank of Luxor was the necropolis of Thebes – a city of the dead – symbolically located where the evening sun sets. Here you will find some of the most famous tombs including that of Queen Nefertari, Queen Hatshepsut and King Tutankhamun.
This evening, sail further south along the Nile. Consider a visit to onboard Senab Spa to soothe your mind and body and unwind.
Today you will visit Kom Ombo and the Temple of Edfu. Edfu is home to Horus Temple, built from sandstone blocks between 237 BC and 57 BC and considered one of the best-preserved temples.
The temple walls have great inscriptions that reveal important insights into myth, religion, and language in the ancient Egyptian era.
Upon reaching Aswan, considered to be the most beautiful city in Egypt, go ashore and visit the Unfinished Obelisk & the Temple of Philae on the banks of the Nile. The Unfinished Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut is a more than 3,500 years old monument, abandoned in an Aswan stone quarry.
The Temple of Philae was built to honor the goddess Isis and includes several must-see shrines and sanctuaries.
Today you will disembark from your luxury river boat to continue your journey onward. Once on land, take a short flight to visit Abu Simbel, a three-thousand-year rock-cut temple, commissioned by Ramses II, is considered among the most visited and photographed archaeological sites in the world.
Tonight, you will stay at a legendary hotel where King Fouad once entertained and Agatha Christie sipped cocktails and penned Death On The Nile.
Today, you will fly back to Cairo. For your final night in Egypt, venture into the desert and relive the 7,000-year old history of Egypt. Beneath a canopy of stars, you’ll see the legendary Pyramids of Giza illuminated with color.
Dine in a specially-built tent on the Giza Plateau, overlooking all three pyramids. When its time to turn in, you’ll be transported back to your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up for a private transfer to the airport for your flight onward.
