Our theory on the Greek Ionian Islands

From June till mid September, during the night time, Caretta-Caretta turtles rush to the shore where they lay about 100 eggs each into the sand. The breeding ground is only to be found on the dry part of the sandy beaches around the bay of Lagana on Zante Island. Two months later is your chance to spot the hatchlings emerging from their shells and dashing toward the sea.

The Ionian Islands have several wrecks to dive. The HMS Regulus was sunk in 1945 off the coast of Corfu and boasts a huge anchor where marine life often congregates. Another stellar wreck is off of Kefalonia, one of the most popular in all of the Ionian Islands. The HMS Perseus is a submarine transformed into an artificial reef where you are likely to run across larger creatures.
