Arrive in Tangier in the morning where you’ll be met by your driver to continue your travels overland to the “blue pearl of Morroco”. Known for it’s striking blue-washed buildings, the city of Chefchaouen was originally built as a fortress in the 15th century.
Stroll through the blue-walled alleyways and markets taking in the sights, smells and sounds of Morocco. This evening, experience a traditional hammam scrubbing with natural moroccan cosmetic clay and hammam soap in a beautiful luxury setting.
After a short drive, arrive in Fez, the medieval capital of Morocco and the oldest of the country’s imperial cities. It’s walled Medina is the best-preserved old city in the Arab world. Fez is also home to the sprawling, labyrinthine Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban zone with transport mainly being donkey-drawn carts.
This afternoon, enjoy Moroccan mint tea at The Ruined Garden – picturesque spot where you can enjoy a cup of tea surrounded by a beautiful garden, fountains, and the sounds of birds.
After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Chouara leather tanneries where hides are dyed in techniques unchanged for centuries. Craftsmen walk the narrow walkways and planks between the colorful giant stone vats, moving the hides from one step the next. The resulting leather is then sold to other craftsmen, who use it to produce Morocco’s famed leather goods.
Later, eat your way through Fez where you can taste all manners of Moroccan treats and pastries including mlawi (pancakes), briwates (sambosas), potato cakes, cured olives, local fruits, an array of delicious honeys and more!
Today you will travel from Fez to Merzouga, a small town located in the Sahara Desert and home to Erg Chebbi a sea of sand dunes formed from wind-blown sand.
Climbing them by foot or camel just before sunset is the best way to soak in the peaceful, mysterious energy of the desert. The Milky Way is clear and the stars pulse, adding to the magic of sleeping in the Sahara.
When you’re ready to tuck in, retire to your luxury tented camp nestled in the dunes.
The desert is your playground. Explore the landscape by camel, sandboard down the dunes or even go out in a dune buggy. Do all or none, the choice is yours.
Tonight, enjoy dinner under the stars.
Today you’ll continue by air to Marrakech, perhaps the most iconic city on the African continent. Founded by Berber farmers, it is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and the gateway to the interior and the Atlas mountains.
The city is full of riads, museums, and colorful, spice-filled souks, and is divided into two distinct parts: the Medina and the modern European district of the Ville Nouvelle.
Marrakech vibrates with its enchanting Medina, colorful souks and luxury riads. Delve deeper into the city and venture off the beaten path aboard a vintage sidecar. Discover the hidden treasures of Marrakech including secret gardens, khettara-fed palm groves and neighborhoods where life seem frozen in time.
Enjoy sightseeing in Marrakech in today. Part Berber, part Arab, part African, Marrakech is the heartbeat of Morocco where palaces and monuments of unrivaled refinement sit calmly alongside the snake charmers and Gnaouan drums pulsing constantly from Djemâa el Fna Square – the most exuberant marketplace in the world.
After breakfast, you will head to the coastal city of Casablanca. Founded by Berber fishermen in the seventh century, Casablanca is one of Morocco’s most modern and largest cities. Immortalized by the 1942 classic Humphrey Bogart film of the same name, Casablanca fronts the Atlantic Ocean and is steeped in French colonial history, with a blend of traditional Moorish style and European modernism.
This afternoon, visit the Hassan II Mosque, a stunning example of Moroccan architecture.
Savor breakfast at your hotel served with Moroccan mint tea before you board your flight home.
Our theory on Morocco
